A resource for non-birthing parents.
Parenthood doesn’t begin the same for everyone.
Some parents don’t give birth.
Some wait, hope, plan, and advocate long before their child arrives.
Some build families through adoption, surrogacy, foster care, or partnership.
And yet most parenting tools, apps, and communities are built around one story.
Famally is a resource for non-birthing parents.
What We’re Building
We’re starting with our resource guide first. Families forming through non-traditional paths often struggle to find providers who get it.
Famally is building a curated Resource Directory of professionals and services that support families formed in many different ways, including adoption, surrogacy, donor conception, fostering, blended families, and non-birthing parenthood.
We’re especially interested in resources that are affirming, trauma-informed, and experienced in supporting non-traditional paths to family.
If you work with adoptive families, surrogacy families, or non-birthing parents, you belong here.
Who Should Join the Directory

Why I’m Building Famally
I didn’t come to parenthood in a conventional way.
Becoming a parent and building our family was a winding, layered journey. I was a step-parent first. Then I spent years navigating infertility. When we chose adoption, it came with long waits, unanswered questions, and moments of deep isolation.
The people around me tried to be supportive, but they hadn’t lived this path. I felt like I was moving through something life-changing without a map or a community that truly understood.
Even after placement, the questions didn’t stop.
How do I navigate a relationship with a birth family?
I don’t have 9 months to find daycare. I have six weeks. What do I do?
Will my pediatrician understand our situation?
How do we get our baby on our insurance if we don’t have a social security number for him?
Most parenting tools focused on the birthing experience. That support is essential. But there wasn’t anything I could find that centered on the journey I was experiencing.
So I started building what I wish I’d had.
Famally is designed to support non-birthing parents while honoring every path to parenthood. It’s for families formed through adoption, surrogacy, foster care, or partnership. For parents who may not give birth, but who show up with intention, care, and commitment from the very beginning.
